Satay Satay | Paradigm Mall

A short while back I tried out the Satay Satay restaurant in Paradigm Mall. It's located at the lower ground floor, just opposite of Tesco's entrance. As this is my first time visiting this franchise, I would say its quite interesting. Lets see what kind of food they have.

Chinese Tea-RM1.50, Soya Bean-RM2.80
The Chinese tea is quite pricey. RM1.50 is enough for 3 glasses or more of Chinese tea at hawker stalls, but then again this is a franchise restaurant in a shopping mall. I guess this is pretty much the norm in KL nowadays. However, the soya bean drink is really nice, not too sweet, yet very fragrant. Glad to have tried it.

Kampung Fried Rice - RM9.90
I ordered the kampung fried rice as I was in the mood for it that day. It looks and smells great actually, but one taste of it and I was shocked at how salty the whole dish is. They put alot of soya sauce to the point I can really call this soya sauce fried rice. I would have preferred to cook my own fried rice and eat at home... If you really like salty food, maybe it suites you, I don't know. All I know that this dish has exceeded my tolerance for saltiness in the food.

Cantonese Fried Kuey Teow - RM9.90
I also ordered the cantonese fried kuey teow and unfortunately, it is also very salty, but not as bad as the fried rice. At least there is still some of the sauce that balances the taste, but I can still taste a strong smell of soya sauce in it, which is weird 'cause I don't remember cantonese fried kuey teow needs so much of soya sauce.

Chicken Satay Set - RM12.90 (10 sticks)
Nevertheless, their chicken satay really did save the day. It was very very nice indeed, I would say better than Kajang satay. But this was expensive and we couldn't just fill our tummies with satay alone. So it was best eaten as a side dish to complement the main dishes. Too bad I think, if they had focused on improving their main dishes, they could have attracted much more customers to come for their satay. Let's hope that they would do that in the future.

Organic Vegetarian Freshmart and Restaurant | Subang Jaya

My friend introduced me to this organic vegetarian restaurant since I'm into some healthy food recently, so I decided to go and try it out. I don't really know how to describe where the restaurant is located, as it is quite complicated. I would suggest that you find google maps using the address below.

First of all, a first glance at the restaurant looks like an organic grocery store. The front has lots of organic foodstuff being displayed and there are many people who come and buy these organic groceries. You need to go deeper into the shop and then you can see an area where they serve food to customers.

Honey Aloe Vera-RM4.90
One thing I didn't like about this restaurant is that they don't serve chilled beverage. And don't bother to order ice 'cause they don't have ice. It was a hot day so I ordered the ice honey aloe vera drink which is not cold but the word ice on the bottle only. It tastes...weird, I don't really know how to describe it... like aloe vera + honey + lemon + a little bit or barley kind of taste. I don't think this drink is for everyone's taste.

Fresh Coconut-RM3.90
We also ordered a fresh coconut. It was good and the meat was a bit hard to peel off. I can see almost all the tables ordered at least one coconut as the price is quite reasonable.

Seaweed Rice-RM8.90
The seaweed rice looks great on the outside... but again, I'd say the taste is not for everyone. The fried rice is rather odd, unlike any type of fried rice I've tasted. I don't know what type of ingredients they might have used but it definitely does not suite me. The vegetables are also raw which are still ok, but they could have at least cut it into smaller pieces and not make me look like a fool who was trying to put those elongated been sprouts into my mouth.

Vege Fish Beehoon Soup-RM8.90
Yet again, the fish beehoon soup tastes weird. I think they might have used soya milk in the soup which gives it the weird texture and I somehow taste a whiff of vanilla in the soup. This definitely does not go well with Chinese pickles (咸菜)  and beehon. I definitely wouldn't recommend ordering this dish unless if you have to.

Stir Fried Bayam-RM8.00
Finally, a dish that tastes normal. It is quite good actually, the vegetables are fresh and crunchy. But yet again, it would be better to be cut into smaller pieces. I can't help but hope that if the cook have had some some consideration towards the people who eat the dish, he/she could've realize that each strand of vegetable is simply too long to be put in one's mouth.

Nose Warehouse Sale 2012 review

Nose Warehouse Sale for 2012 has arrived starting from 11th-14th July 2012. How can I miss it especially shoesholic like me. Since the warehouse sale started on weekdays and end on Saturday, I only have the chance to go for the last day. It is not a good idea to go for last day because probably all are out of stock but Nose gave special discount for customers on the last two days- Further reductions of 50% of all items. At least that make me balance a bit...hehe..

The place was located near Monash University, I have some difficulty to find the place especially when there was no signboard or banners leading to the place after you pass the Monash University. Besides, you can't even see any crowd walking on the road holding any plastic bag (That's what usually you see in warehouse sale!). First thing came into my mind, either it is a prank from the web or the warehouse sale is very bad. Finally, I found the place and a good parking spot right in front of the main door. There wasn't any crowd compare to Charles & Keith Warehouse Sale.

Big white plastic bags were prepared in front of the entrance for us to pick up our stock. Everything was quite organised. Shoes were arranged according to sizes where size 34-37 are placed at the left side and size 39-41 are placed on the right side. All the staff are quite friendly. But there was a problem which I think is also the main reason causes the warehouse sale to be empty-most of the shoes are not in good conditions and little variety!
Sunglasses and other accessories-RM10

Bags are range from RM15-RM50

All shoes are sold at RM5 and RM10 for the last day.

Earring-RM10
All the earring and accessories are still in good conditions but the variety not many.

Beige Sunglasses-RM10

Blue Bag-RM30
Most of the bags are still in very good condition. The normal price for this bag is RM114.

Beige Pump Low Heel-RM10
So far this is the most good conditions shoe I found for my size. Normal price is RM99.90.

Black Casual Clog High Heel-RM10
Luckily I check for this pair as most of the bucket part are torn. I requested to check for another new pair until I get the perfect one and the staff was quite helpful too. Normal price RM99.90.

Most of the RM5 shoes are flats which have been torn, lost one pair or not in very good condition. I guess many people came for the 1st day find it quite disappointed with the sale including me. It is not very worth to go but since I am there, I told myself at least I need to get some stocks and without going back empty handed. Seems like their warehouse sale is getting worse year by year.

Restaurant Sogo Jepun | Sogo KL

We went to the Restaurant Sogo Jepun some time ago last year but I forgot to post the review up. They had an ongoing promotion of RM15 per value meal, valid daily from 2.30pm - 9.00pm. On weekends and Public Holidays its 11.00am - 9.00pm. It's been quite a long time therefore I'm not sure whether this promotion is still ongoing. Nevertheless, many people don't know about this Japanese restaurant at the top floor because it is located at the back, quite far away from the food court; you have to walk pass secret recipe to get there. The food is actually not bad, worth to try it out if you happen to be shopping in Sogo.

The store was rather empty when we arrived, despite their RM15 value meal promotions. We saw the advertisements and it seems kinda worth it to try it out... let's see what they have here:
Value Meal: Teppanyaki Chicken + Yasai Itame - RM15
The traditional teppanyaki Chicken with vegetables. It tastes not bad, just that the vegetables are slightly too salty. The one thing that is unusual here is the Jelly that they serve instead of fruits. I kinda like fruits actually as the jelly does not go along well with Japanese food.

Value Meal: Tori Misoyaki + Mini Salad - RM15
This Tori Misoyaki is rather special and you can't find it everywhere in Japanese restaurants. I did notice that these Teppanyaki dishes are cooked by the chefs at the Teppanyaki dining area... Maybe when there are alot more people here, they might do some demonstrations while cooking the Teppanyaki, just like what we always see in Hollywood movies. That'd be great actually, I would love to try it sometime!

Value Meal: Tendon + Mini Salad - RM15
The Tendon tastes quite normal, ingredients are fresh, and the prawns are big. Nothing much to say about fried food here :).

Steak Tofu - RM8
This is the first time I saw a "Steak Tofu", and it tastes great. They pan fry thin slices of tofu on the teppanyaki grill together with their special sauce. Added with the toppings ( I don't know what those flakes are called), they really bring the essence of "Teppanyaki" right into your mouth! Must try!

Gyouza - RM15
The gyouza is also very nice, just slightly expensive in my opinion. It is slightly oily, but its crispy on the bottom, and juicy on the inside. Good appetizer to prepare you for your meal.

Overall I think the Restaurant Sogo Jepun is a good place to go if you're craving for something better than the food court, but not as expensive as the chinese restaurant just beside here. I wonder whether their RM15 promotion is still going on, but if it is, its quite worth it to try it out its many choices of value meals.

Pick Me Up | Kuchai Lama (CLOSED)

After a heavy dinner with my girls, one of them started to suggest we go for second round since she will not in KL for sometimes now. She introduced us a new place she found to have some special tall dessert. We used to come here for snowflake every few weeks. Now, where is the place? It is located at Kuchai Lama a shop named Pick-Me-Up which is just the same row with the famous fish head beehoon and opposite Snowflake. It is a new shop started since last year December.

The concept of the place is similar to snowflake except they do sell some snacks other than dessert only. You fill up your stomach with same light snack here while enjoying their dessert too.

Again, they use the same device as snowflake for us to collect our dessert and snack when it beep or light up. I like this kind of device which enable the customer to wait patiently for their food and notify them once it is ready.
Taiwanese Tower-RM12.90
This is the one we came for. It is their premium ice pick and also what attracts people to pay a visit here. It is their 19cm ice shave with red bean in between. It came with barley, glass jelly, black pearl and taro ball to go with the ice shave. Sweetness was just right, nothing much to shut for as all the sides are just normal except that it is place in a tower shape that make it an icon. Give it a try for an experience.

Sweet Garden Vegetarian Restaurant | Kelana Jaya

My stomach wasn't feeling very well recently, that's why I was actively searching for vegetarian restaurants for some milder food, and I came to Sweet Garden Vegetarian Restaurant which was recommended by my friend. It is located in Kelana Jaya SS6, near to the old Giant supermarket along the newly developed shop houses (same row with Speedmart 99). For those who are not familiar with this area, you surely wouldn't know this vegetarian restaurant that actually serves great food at a decent price. It is suitable for family style dining or just a casual meal with your friends.

They also sell some organic foodstuffs too.

Let's look at what they have to offer:
Nasi Kandar (印度黄饭) - RM6
Honestly I was surprised when I saw that they offered a mix of Indian and Chinese food. The nasi kandar is a highly recommended dish, I mean, it's pretty hard to find a nasi kandar with 3 dishes that costs only RM6 in Klang Valley. I'll definitely be back for more of this...

Oriental Fried Rice (杨州炒饭) - RM6
Their oriental fried rice is pretty standard, tastes good nonetheless. Lots of vege and carrots, great for vege lovers.

Sweet and Sour Vegetarian Spare Ribs Rice (排骨王饭) - RM6
This dish is the marmite spare ribs rice which you can find in many places. It tastes great, but maybe a little too sweet for some people... I still like it though, and they did a very convincing job to fool you that you're eating real spare ribs. Great job!

Besides these individual dishes, you can order many other ala-carte dishes for family style dining. As far as I know, many people come here for dinner as well, and I heard that their ala-carte dishes are quite good too. I'll be back to review more of the restaurant when I have the chance.
